The walking tour through Broken Hill in the morning was good. Some history about the original Mining Town was quite interesting. Here are some pictures from Broken Hill.
After the tour we did a couple of Art Galleries. The first one was the Big Picture which is the biggest picture on a canvas made by one artist (12 x 100 m approx.) in the world showing Broken Hill and surroundings. Looks nice but actually the effort to visit can be spend somewhere else. After that we went to famous Aussie Artist Pro Hart and that was amazing. Even knowing that we are not really the big art lovers, it is amazing to see the different styles he used to paint. When you come to Broken Hill you have to go there. Obviously pictures inside the galleries are not allowed, so here are some from the outside.
Broken Hill Trades Hall, sometimes used for big parties or official happenings. Unions are quite big in Broken Hill due to the mining. Some people call the Trades Hall the Kremlin.
Titanic Memorial - Why in Broken Hill? Broken Hill has a big history of music bands and this is in memory of the bands still playing on the Titanic when it was going under.
Our guide (red jacket) Rhonda with Mary in front of the Town Hall, or what is left from it.
This is what TAFE students do in Broken Hill, in the background the court house.
The Line of Lode in the background with the Earth Coffee Shop and Restaurant on top and Mario's on the right. Mario's Hotel/Motel is for sale - if you have a Million $ go and come to Broken Hill.
The War Memorial for the First World War. He is holding a grenade/bomb, but he will never through it because it would hit Mario's Hotel and an Australian would never do that !!!
Pro Hart's Rolls Royce, painted in his style of Outback Scenery and Happenings. Great picture opportunity.
PRO HART ART GALLERY - Go and visit it when in Broken Hill.
One more Rolls and Bentley with his Number Plate. Unfortunately Pro Hart passed away last year.
