OUR BIG TRIP

MARY & OLI GOING AROUND AUSTRALIA
MELBOURNE TO BROKEN HILL - Page 4

21 June 2007, Thursday

Not doing much, just scanning documents and sending some stuff home because we packed too much. Quite an easy day
and it rained also the first time - but just drizzle.

22 June 2007, Friday

Today I tried to add a water pump to our campertrailer, but for some reason it did not work out well. So maybe later again.
Besides that, our car was finally fixed - the upper control arm does not make any noises anymore - Great thanks to USA4x4
for sending the parts and Silver City 4WD for exchanging the joints. When in Broken Hill and you have a problem with a 4WD,
only one way to go - Silver City 4WD. Dennis and Johnny will help you out. A quote from them: "The impossible can be done
in a couple of hours, a miracle might take a day." That is a very healthy business attitude. Great guys. They are the 4WD
garage for the Outback Challenge, they normally work 6 days, 20 hours a day during the event. At the end of the day we went
to see the sunset from the Line of Lode. Great but f@#*&# cold. Anyway the fingers where ok to take a few photos.

Today we went to Menindee which is about 120 km;s from Broken Hill into the middle of nowhere. Besides being the first
Town on the Darling River it also has a massive man-made Lake System, however most of them are obviously dry. The main
reason to go there was to check the car on corrugations and see how it will perform - at the end it did pretty well. The fuel
pump for the second tank does not work anymore, but this should only be a loose contact which I will fix in the next couple
of days. Below are a few pictures from the Lakes around Menindee. More on the next page.
