OUR BIG TRIP

MARY & OLI GOING AROUND AUSTRALIA
MELBOURNE TO BROKEN HILL - Page 1

13 June 2007, Wednesday

We were planning to leave in the morning and finally gave the keys back to the agents at 4.30 pm. Too many last minute items
needed to be done (mainly the car) before we could actually head off into the BIG TRIP.
Here are a couple of pictures leaving from home - 10A Crete Ave, Ashburton.
We only drove up to Gisborne about an hour from home before sleeping in a Motel. The lack of sleep from the last few days
(working up to 2-3 am to pack up, clean up and organise) made sure that we would not stay in a caravan park.

14 June 2007, Thursday

The first real day of the trip. On the way to Mildura, last stop before Broken Hill which will be the first longer stop. Here are a
couple of pics from on the way. Just to show the over 3 t Jeep and campertrailer.

15 June 2007, Friday

Just settled into Broken Hill Caravan Park - we arrived in our first Outback City and it was freezing - still is....

16 June 2007, Saturday

The next day we went to the RFDS - Royal Flying Doctor Service Base in Broken Hill. We are supporting the RFDS since
years, however hope we do not have to use them at all.

The view from the top of the old mine is great. The Miners Memorial is also quite impressive. Broken Hill is actually pretty
good to spend a few days at. Just could be a little warmer - nights are about freezing temperature and during the day it does
not really get much more than 10 deg C.
