ESPERANCE TO CEDUNA - Page 6

Continuation of the Cape Le Grand NP and Sammy story...
21 October 2007, Sunday
Leaving today at 7 am from Esperance to take in the mighty Nullarbor - from Esperance to Ceduna just about 1400 km's. We
did not know how many days we would take to do it. It would depend on the car, the weather and the spots we wanted to
stop and look at. We set a target of Cocklebiddy today which is about 600 km's from Esperance. We filled up in Norseman
again and headed down the lonely and boring stretch towards the SA border. We obviously stopped at the longest straight
stretch of road in Oz - which is 90 miles or 146 km's dead straight. We arrived too early in Cocklebiddy and decided to go
further and make a decision at the next possible stop which was Madura. We could have gone off towards Eucla or
Mundrabilla but decided to stay and set-up the trailer. Today's pictures are obviously only from the car and the Eyre Hwy
crossing the first part of the Nullabor - at the end, we made almost half of the way to Ceduna, more than 700 km's. The car
went fantastic - besides the loud noise of a broken muffler - which seems to impress people when you roll into a Roadhouse -

| What a boring drive...... the weather was not too bad at the start as you can see - it would get worse when we get closer to the coast later. |
| What else to do than taking funny pictures to not fall asleep while driving - I promise the road was straight and no car to be seen for miles. |
| We never told you that we actually travel as a foursome - two talisman travelling with us - may we introduce Ned and Skippy... |
| An Emu with 9 young ones - we had to slow down quite significantly not knowing how many more would turn-up from the side of the road - otherwise not much to see on the road as long as you can see...... |
