BROKEN HILL - CAMERON CORNER - Page 1
28 June 2007, Thursday
Next try to get to the North. This time we got up at 6 am to make it all the way to Cameron Corner without having too much
stress during the day. About 480 km's from Broken Hill to Cameron Corner. Half of the road between Broken Hill and
Tibooburra is gravel/dirt and from Tibooburra onwards its all dirt. Here are some pictures along the way to Cameron Corner.
Almost forgot !!! The alternator worked well !!!
Packsaddle Roadhouse, in the middle between Broken Hill and Tibooburra. Nice Outback Pub, just had a coffee for
breakfast.
The vegetation gets less and less... A picture in front of the Tibooburra Hotel - famous for its hospitality. Food is good.
The road from Tibooburra to Cameron Corner leads through and besides the Sturt National Park. Sturt being the first
explorer in this Corner Country. Scenic if you appreciate the outback feeling... The first real sights of the water they
have had since the beginning of the year. They already had most of their annual rainfall this year.
The Waca Claypan was flooded and this was a little too much water for us, however is was hard to resist the challenge
and try driving into it. The road around the claypan was the way out of the difficult decision...
The longest fence in the world. The Dingo Fence at Cameron Corner. We made it finally to one of our first real targets -
one of two spots in Australia where you can be in three states at the same time.
The first Wedgetail Eagles,
unfortunately they went too far
away for good pictures. They
have just been waiting next to
the road after a crest.
