OUR BIG TRIP

MARY & OLI GOING AROUND AUSTRALIA
WEST COAST - Page 24

21 September 2007, Friday

We got up very early today to drive to Kalbarri and have still some time to see a few things, like the Parrot Breeding Centre
and also the Seahorse Breeding Sanctuary. Both of those places are privately owned and operated by admission fees as
was Ocean Park in Denham. The Parrot Breeding Centre is the best of them all, just amazing how many birds they have and
raise and also the big aviary with beautiful gardens is amazing with all the parrots flying around your head. We were not
allowed to take any photos from the seahorse place, so had to take one of the steel seahorse in front of the place. They are
breeding seahorses for the pet industry to eliminate seahorses being taken from the wild - which is a good idea, but they still
could allow photos without flash... The parrot place lets you take pictures and we took a lot of them. I will not explain which
one is which, but just show them without lots of comments. At the end of the day, we went to the beach for the sunset and it
was quite nice and shell collection was o.k. too. Nice pictures below - lots of birds.
Sammy the Seahorse - outside of
the breeding centre - nice
sculpture but not for sale.
Here it starts with a Rosella and a few parrots - will be continued on this and the next page or pages...
Those pics are from the
aviary - they have food but
also their normal plant food
available - just amazing how
many they have in the aviary.
