OUR BIG TRIP

MARY & OLI GOING AROUND AUSTRALIA
WEST COAST - Page 10

17 September 2007, Monday

The first choice for today was the Francois Peron National Park which is the northern tip above Denham and Monkey Mia. All
nice sandy 4WD tracks - some corrugations but not too much. The weather was not very good - lots of clouds and also some
very slight drizzle in one spot. We first went all the way up to Cape Peron and went down to the beach on one side of the
Cape. Walking towards the tip we discovered lots of Birds - mainly Cormorants. We have never seen that many in one spot
and all at the beach. We walked a little bit around and the number of birds just seemed to get bigger. The scenery is
incredible also, the red Peron Sandstone together with the beach and water just makes great photos. After visiting the Cape
itself we backtracked towards the Homestead taking in all side tracks - forgot almost all names (more than ten days later
when we actually write this !!!). This spot is very nice and the whole tour will take you about a whole day if you take in all
tracks - great spot !!! Enjoy the photos with minimal comments... We also saw Dolphins in the wild just of the Cape. They were
jumping up and down and most likely hunting for fish.
The Bilby sign at the start of the NP - unfortunately
attached with a special tool...  :-(
The tracks in the NP.
Silly noise while driving - until I figured out that the car
just jumped out of 4WD.
Nice flowers around the Cape.
Cape Peron scenery...
Lots of Cormorants around the beach - hundreds of
them.
