OUR BIG TRIP

MARY & OLI GOING AROUND AUSTRALIA
TOP END - Page 20

Continuation of Yellow Water Cruise...
Start of the cruise - lots of Dragonflies at the boat.
Whistling Ducks - lots of them again, but close-up this
time. This is one advantage of the cruise, you get to see
the stuff very close.
Do not know the name of this one, but he is funny
hunting over the water and dicing frequently into it to
get the fish.
Lazy 3.5m croc on the side, not many crocs to see,
however about 200 are in the water somewhere.
Spoonbill - funny looking bird.
Darter again, this time in the water. The beak is very
pointy and used to spear the fish underwater.
Cormorant, was sitting together with the Darter before
he headed into the water.
We saw lots of White-bellied Sea Eagles. Majestic birds.
More Sea Eagle impressions.
A bird from the Heron family.
Jabiru walking in the floodplains. We would see her
again later and also the young one in the nest.
A young Night Heron - adults are brownish-golden
instead of the spots.
$1000 duck - why? Aboriginal people call them like that
because it will cost you $1000 if you are caught with one
hunted bird. They mate for life and therefore the other
bird would die after a few weeks.
