TOP END - Page 3
29 July 2007, Sunday
Continuation of the "Beer Can Regatta" Day...
The winner of the kids competition - fins do the job
instead of a paddle.
The first race close to the water - the two pirate teams
in battle.
The thong throwing competition - try throwing one and
see how hard it is. The furthest came at least 30 m - not
bad. Here is the Australian hope - he came second.
They first had to run to the beach, Kayak around a
course and come back and run up the beach with two
cartons of soft drinks - sponsored by Solo rather than
beer. Only three of eight guys came back from the
Kayak part of the race - he he he
Tug of War - Funny event - the more drunk the team was
the less the chance of winning.
The pirates did also well in this event. The guy at the
end was on his knees and his mates always took the
Bundaberg Rum Can and put a little away to reach for
him - no wonder they won the two heats we saw.
The winners of the Battle of Mindil - Pirates of the
Canofbeerland.
Ruins of boats after the battle.
Mindil Beach Sunset Markets - every Thursday and
Sunday - lots of food and arts and crafts.
eMDee - Mark at the didgeridoo and Lukas at the
drums. Great set-up and high energy music.
Mark playing 4 didgeridoos - why only play one if you
combine them. Web: www.rawdidge.com
At the end of the second session an Abo joined in and
try to interpret the music in his way - was quite funny.
Panorama pictures of Mindil Beach and the event.
