Continuation of the Barn Hill Station Story...
8 September 2007, Saturday
How far would we get towards Dampier today - Port Hedland maybe? - well, that was the aim. The drive again is pretty boring
and only two stops between Broome and Port Hedland - the Sandfire and Pardoo Roadhouses. Sandfire just recently burnt
down, but they still provide service in a container - even food and drinks - well done guys and thanks for that. Besides that
we arrived in Port Hedland just before 5 pm and they told us in the Visitor Centre that we would only get accommodation in
the caravan park in a bunkhouse. No camping sites. At the end, we got a studio room - quite expensive but it was OK to
spend an easy night. No pictures from today, but tomorrow we want to have a quick look around the town before driving to
Mike in Dampier. By the way, we have not seen many mosquitos since we started the trip or at least not as many as we
expected - but here in Port Hedland it is just amazing how many are coming even into the room we have and also their size-
so lets see how that goes in the next few days.
