OUR BIG TRIP

MARY & OLI GOING AROUND AUSTRALIA
KIMBERLEY - Page 11

22 August 2007, Wednesday

Continuation of the Bungle Bungle North story...
The palms around the rock ledges deserve some more photos and close-ups - great colours with the green and red...
Narrow path through the
conglomerate rock - luckily I lost
some weight - otherwise Mary would
have gone alone.
Red conglomerate - termites - palms
- shows all of the scenery together.
Termites find spots everywhere -
this time on the top of the range.
Echidna Chasm - the start of the walk.
A male Bower bird build this bower -
finally we see what that bird at
Katherine Gorge was carrying the
stones for. Stones in front and
behind this beautiful constructed
tunnel of branches - what is it used
for? Mating only - the female build
her own nest for the eggs.
Livistona Palms again - very nice...
above, left and below
The entrance to the real narrow path
at the end...
Size comparison - pretty high cliffs
and that does not even show the
end at the top.
The end - noon and the light hits it
completely.
Again narrow path through the
conglomerate rock formations to get
to the end of the chasm.
