Continuation of the Bungle Bungle and Argyle Mine...
O.k. I promise that we won't take that many pictures again in one day. Almost forgot one thing. I used the scales at the airport
to check my weight and almost got a shock. More than 10 kg gone in the last 2 month on the trip. I guess more exercise (well
some is more than nil), the cold weather in the first half of the trip, less food and most important I guess I had enough fat
which was able to easily go away under those conditions. Mary does not have much fat too loose and did not loose much
weight so far. She also did more exercise before the trip than we are doing now. Let's see how that will look at the end of the
trip. Maybe you won't recognise us anymore.
20 August 2007, Monday
Today we brought the car and trailer for servicing. No big issues, except that one wheel bearing was buggered on the trailer
and one of the handbrake cables came loose on the car which for some reason bend an arm on the lefthand side which was
still attached. Which means that my handbrake won't work great - but TJ's handbrakes are a pain anyway, so no real issue.
Besides that all oils are changed and all greased up for the Bungle Bungle and Gibb River Rd. After we picked up the car we
went to stock up and started packing for an early start tomorrow. The drive will be 5-6 hours from Kununurra to the Ranger
Station in the Purnululu NP. From tomorrow onward we will be out of contact range until 31 August when we plan to arrive in
Broome for the Staircase to the moon. We will stop at the Bungles for 3 nights, 2 nights at El Questro, 1 night at Mt. Barnett
Roadhouse, 2 nights at Silent Grove and finally 2 nights at Windjana Gorge. As we said before we will miss out on the Mitchell
Falls (they do not run anymore anyway), Geiki Gorge and Wolfe Creek Crater, but I think this is the best deal to get a good
overview of the Kimberley.
You will hear again from us when we are in Broome... take care.

On the flight back I had the front seat next to the pilot - I just made sure that I did not touch anything.

Pictures from Lake Argyle on the way back.

The airport in Kununurra at the approach. Looks funny when you actually can see in which direction you fly - the guy at the controls was really good - he knew what he was doing - lucky !!!

The diversion dam which provides the water to the irrigation channels via the Lower Ord river.
