OUR BIG TRIP

MARY & OLI GOING AROUND AUSTRALIA
KIMBERLEY - Page 2

18 August 2007, Saturday

Continuation of the Wyndham journey...
A Chimney in the middle of nowhere - not sure which
homestead it was.
Boab trees are fantastic - they are
only found between the VRD and
Derby around teh Kimberley.
Black Cormorant fishing at Marlgu Billabong.
Green Pygmy Geese - very small for a goose but
brilliant colours.
White Pied Cormorant fishing.
Green Pygmy Goose again...
Hundreds of Whistling Ducks taking off - also next two
pictures below.
Hmmm - can't really remember the name of this duck -
something like Black Pacific....
The view over the wetlands including Boab trees.
Telegraph Hill above the Billabong. This telegraph
station was used to observe the seas out of Wyndham
and helped to sink the German ship Emden in the
second world war.
Dreamtime statues in the Wyndham park. I was hassled
by an Aboriginal that wanted to sell me a Boab tree fruit
painted with Aboriginal Art - was a little too drunk that
guy.
Boab trees in front of the Billabong from Telegraph Hill.
Wyndham port at the West Arm.
The view from the Five River Lookout above Wyndham.
