Continuation Barossa Valley story...

31 October 2007, Wednesday

Today it was time to leave the Barossa Valley and move closer to home. We decided to have a look at Hahndorf before
driving towards the Murray Sunset Country. The oldest German settlement in Oz - Hahndorf. Well at least we had to have
lunch in a German place and walk a little bit around. The "dorf" (village) is a nice place, but it does not really look like a
German little town - from the outside of the businesses. As soon as you enter some of the restaurants and bakeries you really
get transferred to good old German environment - boring and classic - he he he. Rain was on and off today and we decided
to drive towards the Murray Sunset NP and maybe stay around the area to have a look at the Pink Lakes. At the end the
boring drive and weather again meant that we continued all the way to Ouyen and stayed in an Onsite Van at the caravan
park. We already booked one more day in the Grampians and will drive to Halls Gap tomorrow. Here are a couple of pictures
from Hahndorf.

01 November 2007, Thursday

Today we opened the last chapter of our travel around Oz. We drove from Ouyen to Halls Gap in the Grampians to stay over
the long Melbourne Cup weekend. The drive was quite boring and nothing special happened until we entered the Grampians
National Park. The road was very scenic and nice entering from the North. This road is not recommended for Caravans, but
we had no problem going through it with the trailer attached. People looked strange at us, but maybe that is because of the
car itself. We were lucky to build up the trailer during a sunny part of the day - it was even so warm that we started sweating
doing it. Around 3 pm it started to rain and had not yet stopped. We also have a guy here at the campground with another
Tambo campertrailer - they are relocating from WA to Tassie - see Mike not just you... The next few days we only relax and
Barry, Nicole, Mark & Nitika will come by later during the weekend for our ending of the trip. No pictures from today.
Lucy's Cottage above and the view of the Heritage
vineyards - very nice place and nice people.

Below are the panoramics from today.
Our Lunch stop - including Bretzeln for later.
O.k. so where is the leather from the other cows....
